Our family has purchased their fair share of Star Wars books through the years. We have Lego Star Wars books, books about the ships of Star Wars, a Star Wars Character Encyclopedia, a Star Wars Visual Dictionary and seven a Star Wars cookbook. But we have not had a pop-up Star Wars book.
When I first heard about this pop-up book, I thought it would be fascinating, and I have a couple of sons that would love it. However, I was not prepared for what I received.
About the Star Wars Pop-Up Book
To quote Wedge Antilles, “Look at the size of that thing.”
This is not a book, it is an interactive Star Wars Pop-Up Book extravaganza. As you open each page, it ultimately unfolds completely to give you an overview of the Star Wars lands.
This book is packed with amazing Star Wars moments and designed by a paper engineer named Matthew Reinhart. What is a paper engineer, you may ask?
Books and Me:
Well, before we get into that I have a couple of things I need to get off my chest.
- I cannot simply get a book, review the book, recommend the book and move on. I have to find out about the author, and any other material I can get my hands on. Matthew Reinhart is a fascinating person that I wish I could meet. Maybe I can convince him to do a Facebook Live with Jack-Jack and me (which we conduct every Thursday morning at 11 AM).
- I am a certified bookaholic. I talk about this frequently. Homeschooling and bookaholics do not mix well. My house became overrun by books and I finally began to downsize my book collection. Over the past 3 years, I have sold or given away over 3,000 books. However, after finding out more about Reinhart and the books that he has produced, I want to buy them all!!!!! Good for Matthew – Good for You – Not so Good for My Pocket Book!
PAPER ENGINEERING and THE STAR WARS POP-UP BOOK
Now that I have gotten that off my chest, I need to tell you more about a paper engineer. You see, while there are people who can design a pop-up book, not everyone can design a book that is an engineering masterpiece. The Star Wars Pop-Up Book allows you to interact with snow speeders, AT-AT Walkers, and peer inside the Death Star. There are great sites to learn more about paper engineering and would be a great hands-on school activity for homeschooling learning.
This book is a display of thrilling and wonderful surprises. It opens up to a diorama filled with 5 amazing spreads and 24 inspiring pop-ups.

As you move around the Ultimate Pop-Up Galaxy you undertake the journey of the last 40 years that has captured the hearts and souls of young and old alike. Of course, the Forest of Endor is my favorite pop-up, but at each point in our exploration of this book, I gasped in delight.
This book is truly a masterpiece that adults and older children should have in their possession. It is made of heavy cardstock, is beautifully illustrated and has amazing colors. This makes an excellent gift. The best part of the diorama is that it measures 37” by 44” but folds-up into a flat book you can store on a shelf.
Make sure to enter the Giveaway below! It runs from December 7, 2019, until December 14, 2019.
