DISNEY’S INCREDIBLES

INSPIRED FRUIT TRAY

Have you seen the Disney/Pixar Incredibles 2 movie? It has been almost 14 years since The Incredible family has burst into our lives, and we were so excited that another installment was coming out. I immediately started to find ways to have fun with this movie. This is the basis for our Disney’s Incredibles Inspired Fruit Tray.

OUR INCREDIBLES STORY:

This isn’t the first time that our family has made incredible things. We have a little boy (we call him Jack-Jack) that dressed as Mr. Incredible for years. Jack-Jack needed a blue and a red suit. Mr. Incredible blue suit was impossible to find so we made one. He dressed every day as Mr. Incredible.

We also have had multiple copies of The Incredibles. One of our DVD’s is in between the wall and the baseboard and has lived there for the past 10 years. I suppose when we replace the carpet, we will take the baseboards off and retrieve our DVD. But because we watched The Incredibles every day for years we immediately purchased another copy.

The Incredibles helped to define us. My husband had a cardiac arrest three years ago (visit Mr. Incredible Falls Down to read about it), and it was easy to compare his life with Bob Parr’s. Most days I identify with Helen Parr – taking care of the family and being stretched too thin. Jack-Jack, who is currently 13 and autistic, doesn’t appear to have any distinguishable superpowers just like Jack-Jack in the movie. Society expects some super math ability or LEGO building skills from autistic children, but Jack-Jack’s superpower is his cuteness.

And our Jack-Jack appreciates when we “do Disney.” So I created this fun and easy Disney’s Incredibles Inspired fruit tray. The dip was a cream cheese, marshmallow whip blend, and we used strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, and blackberries, but you can substitute any of the following for fruits:

  • Red – strawberries, raspberries, red cherries, watermelon
  • Orange – Cantaloupe, orange or tangerine slices, peaches
  • Black – blackberries, Concord grapes
  • Yellow – Pineapple, yellow melons, yellow pears

We also made a Disney’s Incredibles inspired vegetable tray using red peppers, olives, yellow peppers, and carrots. The dip was a sour cream based veggie dip. Here are my suggestions for color options for your veggie tray:

  • Red – Red peppers, cherry tomatoes, radishes.
  • Orange – Carrots, cheese sticks
  • Yellow – yellow peppers, yellow squash
  • Black – olives, black/purple carrots
