(We were given free tickets to view this movie)

When my husband and I went to see Miracles from Heaven last month, neither one of us had read or heard much about the movie. I like to go into a movie without preconceived notions. So we drove 90 minutes to the showing with open minds and hearts.
Miracles from Heaven (affiliate link) is a book based on a true-story written by Christy Beam. She writes about her daughter, Anna who at age nine becomes very, very sick. After fighting for answers, Christy and her hsuband, Kevin, are finally given some, But they are not the answers they were looking for. In fact, Anna has an incurable motility disorder, and must be fed with a feeding tube. Even after experimental drugs and surgery, Anna is not getting any better, and remains in constant pain. The doctor finally says he can only try to make her comfortable, but there is really nothing else left to do. Anna desperately wants to go home and die. The family returns home, but what happens next can only deemed a miracle.

In the movie, Jennifer Garner plays Christy Beam, and Queen Latifah plays Angela, a waitress who befriends Christy and her daughter while they are in Boston for a consultation with a specialist.
Jennifer has said the movie impacted her so much that she her and her children have begun going to church again, and she hopes the movie will help people in their faith. Jennifer told the Christian Post, “I will be so thrilled if it lifts people’s hearts in that way, if it asks anyone to re-examine their own faith and their own beliefs, that would be the pie in the sky for me. I can’t think of anything better.”

Last year, my husband had a miracle of his own. He died, and was revived. All the doctors have said he was a classic cardiac arrest case. He should be dead. But he is alive today. We know miracles happen, and our family views have been altered by that experience. You can read about his cardiac arrest and our journey here.
This movie is definitely a tear jerker; there was not a dry eye in the theater. It is a touching, inspirational movie, but more importantly, the message it sends is one that everyone needs to hear, or be reminded of often.
Miracles are all around us! We just need to open our eyes to see them.
