Over the years, I have used so many different learning methods. I have 5 children, and they all learned differently. However, no matter how your child learns, I have not met a child that didn’t love using computer/digital apps to learn while playing. Ed Shed is an online subscription that offers interactive learning products. We used Math Shed and Spelling Shed. These products are bright, exciting, and fun for your children. But what does this momma think of them?

How Our Family Used Math Shed and Spelling Shed Learning Apps at Home

Spelling Shed

Having a child on the spectrum creates challenges for learning. Jack-Jack has loved the Spelling Shed. However, I like it too. I love the ability to create my own word lists. As Jack-Jack has autism, sometimes words that I thought he had mastered creep into the unknown word lists and we have to go backwards. However, because there may be only a word or two from a lower level, we need the ability to create our own spelling lists. Spelling Shed gives us that option.

Bee Keeper is a fun interactive learning game. Think of it as a non-violent hangman. Guess letters and if you are right, the letter is filled in. If you are wrong, you lose a flower. Keep guessing until all the flowers are gone. An added twist is that you gain flowers if you guess a correct letter. If you love word searches and word games, trust me when I say, this game is addictive!

There is also a game called Missing Word. A sentence is read out loud that is missing a word. The word is read and you have to spell that word. Not only did I enjoy this game from a spelling standpoint, but also from a keyboarding activity.

Spelling Shed also gives you the ability to have up to 5 children on your account! This is fun interactive learning for your family.

Math Shed

While we enjoyed Spelling Shed, our favorite of the two was Math Shed. Choose between the following interactive learning levels:

  • Number Bonds
  • Times Tables
  • Powers of 10
  • Add and Subtract
  • And More

The graphics on this online hub is cute and engaging for the youngest of kids, and this interactive learning app includes adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, and even negative numbers. Negative numbers are something children need to learn and it isn’t addressed often on learning apps.

Digital Curriculum Resources:

Ed Shed is an online digital curriculum with resources to go along with that curriculum. First, there are separate logins for parents/educators and students. Then there are online digital resources.

Spelling Shed is a complete spelling resource for grades K-5, but spelling lists can be used with any grade level. There are word lists, learning activities and practice sheets. As the teacher, you can download and print unlimited copies to give as homework/practice work.

My Overall Thoughts on Math Shed and Spelling Shed:

These online interactive apps are great resources for your family. These fun apps are just one more asset for you to use when educating your children. I love the fact that they can be used for up to 5 children. This is a great plus. The teacher’s (momma’s) dashboard is a wonderful place to keep track of all of your children in one place. This is definitely an app to checkout.

Make sure to visit Ed Shed for more information on the math or spelling interactive learning apps.
