Imagine your child learning about punctuation with an exclamation point that “burst forward” on the screen! These type of visuals are great for children who don’t learn in traditional ways, and we are finding out that more and more children don’t learn in traditional ways but have had to learn to compensate. The children that don’t compensate get left behind. But what if there were resources that helped children who learn differently? Vooks is one of those resources, and this Vooks Reading App Review will give you all the information you need to make an informed purchase.
WHAT IS VOOKS
Vooks is an online website that has a collection of children’s books. This interactive reading system has animated a great collection of kid’s stories. These animated books are told in a fun manner that allow your child to enjoy these books.
Vooks tagline is Storybooks Brought to Life! So do they deliver?
Yes, absolutely! But just because they bring stories to life may not mean that this is the right app for your family. Do they offer unique content that enhances your life?
In addition to the myriad (hundreds) of picture books, Vooks offers teacher/parent resources. These include lesson plans for individual books.
Some of my favorite titles include Curious George Plants a Tree, Alice’s Magic Garden, My America The Beautiful, and The Day Punctuation Came to Town. Moreover, each and every book that we have listened to is exciting and beautifully animated. Their storybooks deliver everything you would want in a storybook app.
But there is more! As the stories are being told, the words are displayed and highlighted so your child can read along with the narrator! This is a great way for them to visualize the words.
Vooks is an ad-free environment! Yay!!!
HOW TO USE VOOKS:
Visit the home page and browse by categories such as New Releases, Age (Elementary and Preschool), Be Kind, Be Brave, Biographies and more. Or use the search bar to search by title.
You and your child have the ability to save your favorite books. Think of this as your private book shelf!
VOOKS LESSON PLANS:
In addition to the amazing and unique collection of books (and they add more titles each month), they offer lesson plans. These easy to follow plans have a story summary, vocabulary, age recommendations, themes associated with the book, and more.
I have personally used Alice’s Magic Garden and Physics Animated. My 16 year old son is autistic and this is an amazing product for him.
Alice’s Magic Garden lesson plan has questions, a maze, drawing and writing, a coloring page, and even a hands-on activity. And Physics Animated has questions, vocabulary, a coloring page, and activity suggestions. These plans allow you to come up with quick activities without all the hours of spending research online (or using brain power to figure it out on your own).
Vooks is a great resource for homeschool parents and teachers. I can recommend this subscription service as a way to engage your children and help foster the love of reading.
Additionally, Vooks is great for grandparents. Vooks gives you the ability to have engaging books to read with your grandkids without having stacks and stacks of books piled up.
I am giving away a year-long subscription to Vooks! Follow the Rafflecopter Prompts below!
