Upcoming Disney Movies 2019

I had just updated our calendar. My youngest son, Jack-Jack, is autistic. He likes to know when all the Disney/Pixar movies are set to release. I thought after I put them all on his calendar through the end of the year, that I would check to make sure. Guess what…The day you put something on your calendar is the day that it will change.

Upcoming Disney Movies 2019

Upcoming Disney Movies – May through December 2019

Even though I have the wrong dates on my calendar, here are the updated dates for the Disney movies set to release by the end of the year: Note: Artemis Fowl had a release date of August 2019, but it has been moved to 2020.

Aladdin (Disney) – May 24, 2019

This live-action remake is an adaptation of Disney’s animated classic Aladdin. A tale of a street rat (Mena Massoud) and a self-determined Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott). Genie who was originally voiced by Robin Williams is played by Will Smith. Not only did Alan Menken provide the score for the original Aladdin he also has worked on this film. And it includes new recordings of the original songs.

The story is loosely based on a Middle Eastern folktale from “One Thousand and One Arabian Nights.

Parts of the filming was done on location in Jordan, and the scenery and costuming are exquisite.

Toy Story 4 (Disney) – June 21, 2019

Toy Story 4 is talked about often in my house. Jack-Jack (my 14-year-old autistic son) is obsessed with Toy Story and has quite a collection of the toys. Additionally, he talks about Toy Story with anyone who will listen. In fact, you can watch our Facebook Lives each Thursday at 11 AM where Jack-Jack talks about whatever he thinks about – most often it is about Disney or Disney movies.

Even though everyone thought that the Toy Story franchise was over with Toy Story 3, it appears to have a new life. As Josh Cooley, Director of Toy Story 4 says, “Every ending is a new beginning.”

In fact, it helps that all our old friends are back, Woody, Buzz, Bo Peep, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads, Rex, Jessie, Hamm, Slinky, but there are new characters that come to life in Toy Story 4 such as Forky, Bonnie’s toy that she makes in preschool.

We have already fallen in love with Forky in our household and have made several. Find out how to make your own Forky!

DUKE CABOOM – In Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4,” Woody and Bo turn to a 1970s toy called Duke Caboom for help. Based on Canada’s greatest stuntman, Duke comes with a powerful stunt-cycle, and he’s always prepared to show off his stunt poses with confidence and swagger. Featuring Keanu Reeves as the voice of Duke Caboom, “Toy Story 4” opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019…©2019 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

The Lion King (Disney) – July 19, 2019

Let’s face it. We know The Lion King is not live-action. There are not real lions running loose while Disney directors and filmmakers run after them. In fact, we know this is a CGI movie, but there are elements that make it look more realistic.

As I have talked with people, this is the movie they are waiting for. They love the music from The Lion King and the original story-line, and Disney fans are hoping this one lives up to the hype.

“Disney’s “The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau, journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy, and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.’

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (Disney) – Oct. 18, 2019

This is one movie that I am on the fence about. While I liked Maleficent, I didn’t want to like it. However, I don’t like the focus on the evil queen, but yet, there is something intriguing about it. I intend to see it, and I know that if it has the Disney stamp on it, it will be great.

Disney Maleficent October 2019

Frozen 2 (Disney) – Nov. 22, 2019

The continuing animated drama of an Ice Queen and the people that love her! However, from the trailers, it is hard to tell if there is a new female character or not. It will be interesting to see what happens to the folks of Arandelle.

Disney Frozen II November 2019

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Disney) Dec. 20, 2019

The ninth episode of the Star Wars series. And I wonder what Disney has planned for this. After seeing Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios, I can’t wait for Star Wars land to open at Walt Disney World Resort.

In conclusion, our family is absolutely excited about the upcoming movies. Which one/ones are you excited for?

Watch for my reviews when the movies are released.
