SOCIAL MEDIA ON THE SAND BEACHES MOMS DAY 1

Social Media on the Sand is a social media conference at a Beaches by Sandals Resort. Beaches Resorts are all inclusive, and this years event is in Turks and Caicos. Turks and Caicos was voted World’s #1 Best Beach by Trip Advisor Traveler’s Choice Award. But besides being a fantastic vacation destination, this was my first night sleeping in a bed outside of the United States and Canada. AND today was my first stamp in my passport. Let me recap Social Media on the Sand – Beaches Moms Day 1 for you.

When I got the invite to Beaches Moms last year, I was excited to go and planned to bring my adult daughter, Melissa, but after Hurricane Irma caused extensive damage to the island, the conference was rescheduled for 2018. I told my daughter to invite a couple of friends to help her pass the time while I am in conference.

Social Media on the Sands at Beaches Turks and Caicos – Day 1

While today was not much work, it was a busy day indeed. We woke up at 3 AM to get to the airport. By the time we arrived at the resort, it was already after 1:30. We had a quick lunch at the beautiful Giuseppe’s, a buffet style restaurant offering a great selection. The chef was very accommodating with our gluten-allergies (3 of the 4 of us need to avoid all gluten).

After lunch we checked into our room in the French Village. The rooms are impeccably decorated, and stocked with everything you need to make your vacation enjoyable. Hair dryer, ironing board, iron, wine, and a refrigerator stocked with water, pop, beer, and juices. Imagine if you didn’t have to tell your kids to stay out of the hotel refrigerator!

Overall the day was filled with swag, food, drink, and fellowship. I spent time talking with blogging friends that I have met before and meeting new friends makes any social media conference special.

Favorite Moments from Day 1 Social Media on the Sands

My absolute favorite part was the Rock the Dock Waterfront Welcome. The marbling painting was awesome. Paint is suspended on a liquid and swirled. After the desired patterns is achieved, a hat was dipped in the paint and quickly pulled out leaving behind such beautiful one-of-a-kind creations. The hat was spun dry while the next creation was made. If you ever have a chance to encounter this activity, it is a must do.

After the Welcome Reception we were treated to the Shades of Sunset Kitty Kat Cruise by Island Routes. This cruise was perfect to showcase the setting sun over the water. It was filled with food, drink and music, and activities designed to get to know one another!

Dinner consisted of an outdoor fish fry. The food at Beaches is all-you-can eat, plentiful, tasty and all-inclusive. It is odd to walk up to one of over 20 dining areas, eat all you want, not tip, and experience fantastic service. After a day of “all-inclusive” it is hard to imagine vacationing any other way. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow holds! Click HERE to go to Social Media on the Sand, Day 2.
