How to Plan Your Trip to Asia

Contributing Author

Asia has so much to offer and so much more variety than a lot of people realize. Because there is so much to do on this unique continent, it’s important to make sure that you plan your trip to Asia ahead of time and take all the right steps before you begin your trip. There’s a lot to cover and a lot of advance preparation, but planning can be part of the fun. It’ll certainly make your eventual travel plans much smoother.

You’ll create unnecessary problems for yourself and make all kinds of mistakes if you don’t plan now. This isn’t the kind of trip that you can plan at the last minute or makeup as you go along; that’s simply not going to work out the way you want it to. Furthermore, if you are traveling with children, especially children on the autism spectrum, you will want to do a lot of advance preparations. Find out more below on How to Plan Your Trip to Asia.

Plot Your Route

First of all, you’ll need to plot out the route you’re going to take on your trip. Asia is a big continent and you’ll more than likely want to see as much of it as you possibly can while you’re traveling. Plotting the route can mean different things to different people because you might want to move around every day or you might want to stay in one place for a week before moving to a different one. It’s entirely up to you but be sure to plan it carefully.

Check with the Government

Once you decide what route you are going to take and what countries you want to visit, check with the US Department of State for travel warnings and advisories. Conditions can change rapidly with foreign travel, and the United States Department of State works to keep American’s safe. If you are traveling from another country, check with your countries recommendations.

Additionally, you will need to know if there are any immunizations you will need or outbreaks where you will be visiting. Check the State Department’s website and then visit your doctor (see below for more information).

Decide on Your Priorities

Everyone has a different set of priorities when they decide to travel. What do you want to spend your time doing? Do you want to sit on a beach and simply relax? Or do you want to get out there and meet lots of local people and make new friends? Are you looking to visit Disney Theme Parks? Those are just a couple of examples of how you might want to approach your trip to Asia but there are thousands of others. So, be sure to take some time setting your priorities and deciding how you really want to spend your time in Asia.

Be Sure to Apply for the Necessary Visas

It’s important that you have the necessary visas in place before you make your trip. You simply won’t be let into most Asian countries if you don’t have the right documentation with you when you get off the plane. You certainly don’t want to have to go through the trouble of sorting it all out when you land because it won’t be a short process and there’ll be no guarantees that you’ll be allowed in at all. So, apply in advance and give yourself plenty of time.

Book Your Flights Early

Another thing you’d be wise to do in advance is to book your flights. You don’t want to leave this to the last minute because long-distance flights like the ones you’re likely to need can be pretty expensive if you wait until the last minute to book. If you do it in advance or when prices are released for the dates you need, you’ll be able to get a really good price.

Additionally, be flexible about which countries to fly in and out of. You may find that it is less expensive to fly into one country and then travel to your first destination from there.

Decide on Your Accommodations Early

When planning your trip to Asia, you’ll need to choose your accommodation as early as possible. This makes it possible for you to plan your activities because you’ll know where you’re based and you can work out how to get to the various places you want to visit on your trip. Finding a rumah baru can be a great idea for you’re staying for a while in one location. Or find multiple options if you’re moving around the continent a lot.

Compare Travel Insurance Deals

It’s important to have travel insurance in place because if you don’t, you could be putting yourself at risk and that’s something that’s not necessary. There are lots of very cheap and comprehensive travel insurances policies out there for you to explore, and you should do so. Compare options until you find the best deal.

Exchange Money

At the airport in a foreign country, you probably won’t get the best exchange rates. And don’t expect vendors to give you a good rate either. Make currency exchanges at home in your own bank. Check with your local bank to see how far in advance you will have to do this to get the currencies you need.

Don’t assume that everyone will take your credit card. In fact, even taxis and some hotels won’t take American Credit Cards. If you are unprepared, you will have to exchange your money at the airport which could end up costing you much more than you have planned.

Get the Right Vaccinations

Finally, you should make sure you see your doctor, let them know where you’re going to be visiting and discuss what vaccinations you need. They’ll be able to give you all the information you need about immunizations and health concerns.

When you plan your trip to Asia it can be tricky because there’s a lot that you need to do and get right. But that’s all part of the fun. Make sure you cover all of the bases listed above because you’ll save yourself a lot of trouble if you do. After that, you’ll be able to enjoy your Asian trip to the max.
