Valentine’s Day = deep feelings for your loved ones. While we like to receive special things – dinner out, flowers, expensive jewelry, vacations, it is not always cost-effective to splurge on these types of extravagant purchases. However, we still want to celebrate this special day with our family (or special someone), and I am here to give you some ideas for low cost celebrating and a fun evening at home watching a special Valentine Movie.

Before watching one of the movies from my list: Valentine’s Day Movies for Kids and Adults, have a simple dinner at home. First, order pizza and wings, or get Chinese take-out. Whatever works for your family is what you should do. Next, select one of the dessert activities and have fun decorating, eating, and drinking! Finally, settle in for a favorite Disney Movie!

Valentine Movies to Watch with the family

My Disney Valentine’s Day Movie List:

Number 10: Disney Parent Trap

Whether you watch the original Parent Trap (1961) starring Brian Keith, Maureen O’Hara, and Hayley Mills, or the 1998 version starring Dennis Quaid, Natasha Richardson, Lindsay Lohan, and Elaine Hendrix, you will laugh along with the antics of the twins while they attempt to get their mom and dad back together.

Number 9: Disney Lion King, the Animated Version (1994)

Can You Feel the Love Tonight? Do I need to say anymore? The iconic scene where Nala and Simba reunite after 4 or more years apart is romantic as they come for lions anyway!

Wild Hearts Cant be broken

Number 8: Disney Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken (1991)

This is one of my favorite live-action Disney movies. It is rated G and tells the story of young girl, Sonora, who wants to be a horse diver. This movie is based on a true story and while it isn’t a “love story,” it is a story of love, determination, and overcoming obstacles.

Number 7: Frozen (2013)

Who doesn’t love the scene where Anna and Prince Hans sing about their newfound love? But in the end, true love is shown in ways that we didn’t anticipate! Watch this with the whole family or your favorite friends.

Number 6: The Little Mermaid (1989)

Valentine’s must-watch movie is full of romance. Ariel immediately falls in love with Eric and will stop at nothing to be with him, even giving up her voice. (Kids this is not the way to find true love, however, it does make for a romantic movie).

Number 5: Cinderella (1950)

So This is Love. In this animated version of Cinderella, the classic rags to riches story play out. When the Prince and Cinderella dance, it is truly an enchanted evening. But, Cinderella goes back to her former life before the grand ball. Is this the end of Cinderella’s romance? If you have been living under a rock your entire life, you won’t know the answer to that burning question.

Number 4: Enchanted (2007)

This animated/live-action film is comedy, drama and more. Giselle is thrown out of her animated fairy-tale life into the world of New York City. She finds a friend in a divorce attorney. Will Giselle’s prince find her?

Lady and the Tramp

Number 3: Lady & the Tramp (1955)

The original animated version is an adorable movie. And the scene where Lady and the Tramp share a bowl of spaghetti is as romantic as they come.

Beauty and the Beast with Red Rose

Number 2: Beauty and the Beast (1991)

This Tale as Old as Time features Belle and her relationship with The Beast. Little does she know that he is actually a Prince trapped in the body of a Beast. When the Beast can learn to love another and be loved in return, that he can be turned into a human again.

Rapunzel with Frying pan from Tangled
Doesn’t this look Romantic?

Number 1: Tangled (2010)

Finally, my number one movie! This Disney animated film is my top movie to watch on Valentine’s Day. Rapunzel is locked away in a tower. In fact, she has been there since she was kidnapped as a baby. She longs to see the lanterns that fly through the sky one night a year. When Flynn Ryder comes along, the two make a mutually beneficial deal. The scene where they are in the boat with the lanterns filling the sky as the music plays will have you dancing in the moonlight with your loved one.

Which is your favorite “love movie” from the above list? Did your classic Disney movie make it on my list?
