This film is billed as a true story. It is a feature film remake by Alex Parkinson who originally directed a documentary by the same name in 2019. In this Last Breath Christian Movie Review & Parent Guide, I give you the information you need before viewing this movie with your children.

Last Breath Christian Movie Review Synopsis
Studio Synopsis:
A heart-pounding film that follows seasoned deep-sea divers as they battle the raging elements to rescue their crewmate trapped hundreds of feet below the ocean’s surface. Based on a true story, Last Breath is an electrifying story about teamwork, resilience, and a race against time to do the impossible.
My Synopsis:
A true story that documents the harrowing experience of deep-sea divers who must rescue a teammate that has been underwater without oxygen for too long. This even happened in the North Sea in 2011, and is an interesting story of miracles around us. However, the film never mentions that survival was due to a miracle.

Last Breath Christian Review – What Parents Want to Know
Language:
One use of the f-word, spoken in the end in real-life footage from the actual event. A few uses of s-it, h-ll, and one use of d-mn.
Violence:
Little violence, but there are scenes that show the ship tossing and turning in the stormy waters of the North Sea. Additionally, a person is left in the bottom of the sea after their survival cord (oxygen and heat) are snapped. You see the person slowly lapse into unconsciousness, and his body having spasms.
Someone makes the comment that your “vital organs will explode.”
A dead corpse is briefly shown.
Spiritual Content:
Absolutely no mention of God or miracles. In fact, it is so devoid of the mention of God or anyone praying that it is almost unbelievable. Most people say a prayer during times of trouble.
However, at the end of the film, you see a couple getting married in a church.
Other Content:
A man makes a comment about another man’s naked chest “show some modesty.” An engaged couple lives together.
A man performs CPR on another man and later jokes about kissing.
Positive Content:
This is a true story of human resilience. Furthermore, it highlights the extremes that humans go through to save another person. Life is valued even if that isn’t the message you hear everyday. In Star Trek, the message Spock says, is “the needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many.” However, this film shows the exact opposite. The entire crew worked feverishly in a horrible storm to rescue the one.
Last Breath Christian Movie Review – My Viewing Recommendations:
Fascinating true story that lacks depth (except in the sea). Even though this film is only 1 hour and 33 minutes, it really drags. There is literally no character development. However, it is still a good overall film. Because of the slow-moving nature of the film, and the films content, it is truly deserving of a PG-13 rating.
