Once upon a time, I made sauerkraut. It was a long time ago, and I liked it, but I never did it again. (I share the reason why below). So when I had the opportunity to make sauerkraut with the Starter Kit from Fermentools, I jumped at the chance to try this product. Maybe fermenting foods would become a part of my life.

What is Fermentools and what is included in the Starter Kit? How many different types of food can you make with this product? What are the benefits of fermented foods? I will answer all your questions and more below.

WHAT IS FERMENTOOLS?

Fermentools is a family owned business run that supplies you with products to successfully ferment foods. Their passion is to provide tools necessary for everyone to be able to easily ferment. The quality products were designed to easily turn a wide-mouthed mason jar into an at home fermenting container.

In addition to the products Fermentools sells, they also provide recipes, knowledge, and tips to help you get the most of your fermenting journey.

WHY SHOULD YOU FERMENT FOODS?

How do fermenting foods enhance your life? Fermentools has excellent articles about the health benefits of fermenting foods. Some of these include:

Healthy Bowels

Stronger Immune System

Increases the Nutritional Value of Food

Reducing Inflammation

And Improving Digestion

However, my reason for fermenting foods is so I can know exactly what is in the foods I am eating. I control the quality of the fresh vegetables or fruits that I buy or grow. I can also know beyond a shadow of a doubt that my foods are gluten-free. This is something I never know when I am purchasing products at the store. Too often I have been cross contaminated by foods I was assured were gluten-free.

Another great reason to ferment your own foods is to improve the eating habits of your family. When your kids are involved in the process of cooking and preparing the foods, they are more likely to try those foods. The more foods they try, the more they will find that they actually like.

WHY YOU SHOULD PURCHASE FERMENTOOLS

I could recommend Fermentools because of the ease of use, or the great price points. I could tell you the story of spending money to buy a fermenting crock to make the sauerkraut that I used one time before breaking the crock. Yes! That is why my fermentation days ended. However, I will tell you my number one reason for purchasing Fermentools. All of their products are made and sourced in the USA. This sets them apart from their competitors who source their fermenting pieces from overseas. And my friends, that is a great reason to purchase from Fermentools. You are helping a family run business survive!

Again great reason to try fermenting right now is that Fermentools is giving my readers a 15 % discount coupon valid from now until June 30th.  The coupon code is: Crew2020

WHAT CAN YOU MAKE WITH FERMENTOOLS?

Where should I start? You can make fruits, vegetables, kimchi, soda pop, sauerkraut, pickles, mayonnaise, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, yogurt, breads and so much more!

HOW I USED FERMENTOOLS TO FERMENT FOOD

I decided to make sauerkraut. Fermentools was easy to use, and I was pleased with the overall results.

EASY – I shredded my cabbage, added the Himalayan salt and mashed. Then I placed it in the wide-mouthed mason jar, assembled the easy to use kit components, and waited 4 days. The instructions said to wait 3-14 days, and since I wanted a crunchy kraut, I ended early. The only thing I forgot to do was get a photo of the kraut in the jar fermenting.

Other foods on my fermenting list to try include Ginger Soda Pop, Kimchi, Cranberries, and Beets.
