ELEMENTS OF FUN

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you do not find your questioned answered below in our Frequently Asked Questions, please email me at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.

IS ELEMENTS OF FUN LEARNING CURRICULUM REALLY FREE?

Yes, this curriculum is free. There is no catch. There is no trial period and then you have to buy. This is a labor of love created for my own children. My 13-year-old autistic son needed to learn differently, and I couldn’t find anything that helped him to learn. So Elements of Fun Learning was born.

WHY IS ELEMENTS OF FUN LEARNING FREE?

This is a labor of love. You will see that as soon as we dive into the curriculum. I am not charging because quite frankly I feel called to be a mother, blogger, and to help parents love their children more. Furthermore, I do not feel called to run a curriculum company and everything that running the company would entail. I would rather spend my free time planning a group trip to Walt Disney World or posting adorable photos of my children and grandchildren.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE MONEY?

I do ask that if you buy books through Amazon, you use my affiliate link.

This way it will help pay for a fraction of my time. I also am an Usborne Book Consultant. If you would like to host a party or order books through me, I would appreciate it. There is also a Donate Button to help my family with everyday expenses.

My husband has a full-time job, although we would love for him to be able to work from home. I do blog and do sponsored posts for companies. I never take a sponsored post for a product I will not personally use myself.

WHY AREN’T THERE ANY WORKSHEETS?

I am one that firmly believes that worksheets are just to keep the kids busy. If you want a program filled with “busy work,” this curriculum is not for you. In addition, you can find plenty of free worksheets online. Occasionally I will link to a worksheet if I find it super helpful.

IS THIS CURRICULUM ALIGNED WITH COMMON CORE?

NO

DOES THE CURRICULUM MEET STATE STANDARDS?

I live in Ohio, and I meet the requirements set forth by my state to homeschool. 1) I homeschool at least 900 hours a year. 2) I notify the state in accordance with the laws set forth in the state of Ohio. AND 3) I personally cover the following subjects (but not all these subjects will be covered in Elements of Fun Learning):

  • (a) language, reading, spelling and writing
  • (b) geography, history of the United States and Ohio; and national, state and local government
  • (c) mathematics
  • (d) science
  • (e) health
  • (f) physical education
  • (g) fine arts, including music
  • (h) first aid, safety, and fire prevention.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BIBLE AND CHARACTER TRAINING?

In the Bible section, I have Bible Stories and verses. I utilize an element of the movie to compare/contrast with some Bible character or principle being taught. In Character Training we are looking at either a positive or negative character trait displayed by someone in the movie, and then applying it to everyday life. For example: Snow White is joyful. We discuss being joyful and look for ways to express joy.

If you decide to not use the Bible section of the curriculum, it will not impact any other area of learning.
