This Film is Not The Fairest One of All
Snow White was Walt Disney’s first full-length feature movie. To this day, it is considered a classic film that started Walt in the film business. Snow White was referred to as the “fairest one of all.” However, given all the controversy surrounding this film, it has been speculated that Disney would not be able to make it the box office hit they need. In this Disney Snow White Christian Movie Review & Parent Guide, I give you the information you need before viewing this film with your children. I pay for my movie tickets to provide you with an unbiased review.

Disney Snow White Christian Movie Review
Studio Synopsis:
Disney’s Snow White,” a live-action musical reimagining of the classic 1937 film, opens
exclusively in cinemas March 21, 2025. Starring Rachel Zegler (“West Side Story”) in the title
role and Gal Gadot (“Wonder Woman”) as her Stepmother, the Evil Queen, the magical music
adventure journeys back to the timeless story with beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey,
Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy. “Disney’s Snow White” is directed by Marc Webb (“The
Amazing Spider-Man”) and produced by Marc Platt (“The Little Mermaid”) and Jared LeBoff
(“The Girl on the Train”), with Callum McDougall (“Mary Poppins Returns”) serving as executive
producer, and features all-new original songs from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“Dear Evan
Hansen”).
My Synopsis:
Have you seen the original Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs? If so, you know the plot. While this film takes some creative liberties and changes the story enough to make it a new film, it does keep the elements of the original intact. Snow White, parentless, lives in the castle with her evil stepmother who is jealous because the magic mirror says that Snow White is the fairest.

Snow White Christian Movie Review – What Parents Want to Know
Language:
There is no foul language. However, the dwarfs do call each other names such as idiot and Dopey is called a dope. Another person says, “Take this brush and shove it where the sun don’t shine.”
Violence:
If your child is going to have a problem, it will be with the violence and evil in this film. First, you have the evil queen. When she transforms into the old hag, it can be scary for some children. Additionally, she wants Snow White killed and sends the huntsman off to the forest to do away with Snow White. He pulls a knife on Snow White, but eventually, he lets her go.
When Snow White is running through the forest, the trees close in and grab her. Additionally, this is a dark scene with glowing “eyes,” and Snow White is grabbed by a tree, falls into the huge trunk, and goes down a hole.
Furthermore, the evil queen has people thrown into the dungeon, and a person is tied on the castle gates without shoes or coat.
A person is shot with an arrow. And Snow White “dies” when she eats the apple.
Finally, when the Evil Queen is defeated she breaks up into tiny pieces and is consumed by the Magic Mirror.
Spiritual Content:
Obviously, if you have seen the original film, you know there is a Magic Mirror, and the Evil Queen uses dark magic to transform into an evil hag. She has a spell book and mixes potions in her lair. Additionally, after the King goes off to war and does not return, it is said that the, “Queens power grew.”
Furthermore, Snow White and her parents are shown by the wishing well, and she is told to make a wish. There is also a song entitled “Waiting on a Wish.” However, at the end of the day, she doesn’t wait on the wish, but takes things into her own hands.
Other Content:
Jonathan, the young man Snow White falls in love with, is caught stealing food. He lies, and the evil queen also lies.
Snow White and Jonathan almost kiss a couple of times. He does kiss her when she is “dead,” and when she comes to, they share a kiss. One of the dwarfs refers to Jonathan as “Snow White’s special friend,” and winks to imply they are more than friends.
Positive Content:
There are two songs from the original film. Heigh-Ho and Whistle While You Work. Much of the “scenery” is very nice.
Jonathan is shot with an arrow that is meant for Snow White. While Snow White originally thought he was selfish and just out for himself, she comes to realize that he really is kind.

My Viewing Recommendations – Snow White Christian Movie Review
It is tough to separate Rachel Zelger and her mean-spirited and negative comments about the original Snow White film from the character she portrays in Snow White. While the film really does try to convince the viewer that Snow White is fearless, fair, brave and true, in my opinion, they fail to do that.
Additionally, even if Snow White is all the wonderful things Disney is trying to convince us of, this film is still an unconvincing remake of a classic. The CGI Dwarfs are awful, and the Evil Queen reminded me of the Queen from Once Upon a Time.
One of the songs had the line, “I’m waiting on a wish, holding out for someday,” and I thought, “I am waiting on a wish that Disney will find its way back to the family-friendly company that embraces quality and produces unique, innovative, and timeless content.” But obviously, for now, we all can’t get what we wish for.
At the end of the film, I found myself crying. I wondered if Walt would be as disappointed as I was that they selected his first film and didn’t give it the care and love it deserves. I recommend skipping the theater and sending a clear message to Disney that we want and deserve better!

thank you for taking one for the team. Some of the other reviews I have watched and read are not as kind as yours.
One I heard is that people got up and walked out, and little children were unengaged, Rotten Tomatoes is at 28% I believe, one guy had 8 ppl in the theater for opening night, and another had 12. That isn’t good, and certainly not going to get them their $400M investment back! I will not spend one dime to support this.
