DISNEY STUDENT SEMINARS (HOMESCHOOL DAYS)
|Check in area for the Student Seminar|
Disney Youth Programs offers a Student Seminar at Walt Disney World twice a year for homeschooled families. They occur late January/early February and late September/early October. Discounted tickets are offered, and the only requirement is that you attend a one hour (usually) seminar. Most of the seminars are offered before the park opens and by attending, you are already in the park ready to explore when the seminar is done.
My family had the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World during the Winter Student Seminar (Homeschool Days). On January 28, 2016, Disney Youth Programs hosted Expedition D82. This expedition was largely self-guided. We met in the The Odyssey Center (the closed building between Test Track and Mexico) in Epcot. Several stations were set up within the building. Each child was given a copy of a Expedition workbook. You were free to stay as long as you wanted at each station which included:
Morocco: We were greeted with sights and smells of Morocco. A hostess explained how they use rose water, and poured a few drops in our hands to rub together and smell. There were also spices to smell which included cumin, turmeric, saffron, and others.
Italy: Masks were available to decorate, and there were a host of glitter paints, markers, and bric-brac to attach.
Mexico: Components for tissue paper flowers to make.
Several other countries were represented as well.
As we left the Odyssey Center, each child was given a “completion” pin. We were then free to take our workbooks and explore the countries that make up the World Showcase.
Dates have not been announced for the next Student Seminar, but I will be sure to update you as soon as I have any information! Make sure to follow my facebook page to receive timely updates!
